Scanner Request Types
There are 4 types of scanner requests:

- Modify existing active scanner information
- Replace a scanner and use a new scanner ID

- Replace a scanner and the scanner ID remains the same

| Retire Scanner |
- Retire an active scanner and retire/deactivate the scanner ID
|
Below are steps on how to create each type of request. Remember, there are best practice and business rules to consider.
Add
- From the Scanner List page, select the Add button
- The Add Scanner Request page is generated
- Complete the scanner information
- All fields with a red indicator are mandatory.
- If you no longer need to add a scanner, click on Cancel. Otherwise, select Add to create your request
- The Request Status of your scanner request will display Pending, as Ontario Health review is required
- Check for updates in the request status (refer to Status for more information)
Edit
- From the List of Scanners, locate the relevant scanner
- Select the edit icon button
- The Edit Scanner Request page is generated
- Edit all the fields that need to be updated.
- If your Edit Request involves a software and/or hardware upgrade, select Add Upgrade
- Select the applicable upgrade year and upgrade type (hardware/software or both)
- If you no longer need to edit the scanner, select Cancel. Otherwise, select Save to create your request
- The Request Status of your scanner request will display Pending, as Ontario Health review is required
- Check for updates in the request status (refer to Status for more information)
Replace
- From the List of Scanners, locate the relevant scanner
- Select the replace icon button
- The Replace Scanner Request page is generated
- Edit all the fields that need to be updated (Note: the Scanner ID field is not editable in this type of request)
- If you no longer need to replace the scanner, select Cancel. Otherwise, select Save to create your request
- The Request Status of your scanner request will display Pending, as Ontario Health review is required
- Check for updates in the request status (refer to Status for more information)
Retire
Note: A scanner can not be retired if an open waitlist entry is associated with the scanner.
- From the List of Scanners, locate the relevant scanner
- Select the retire icon button
- The Retire Scanner Request page is generated and displays the warning that the action to retire a scanner is permanent and do we wish to proceed?
- Review the scanner details to determine if the correct scanner to retire has been selected
- If it's the incorrect scanner to retire, select Cancel to abort the request
- If it's the correct scanner, select Yes and proceed to the next step
- The Request Status of your scanner request will display Pending, as Ontario Health review is required
- Check for updates in the request status (refer to Status for more information)

Note: The Edit, Replace and Retire action buttons are also available from the Scanner Details page

Business Rules
The following should be considered when working with scanner requests:
- Identical active Scanner IDs are not permitted at the same facility site
- Scanner ID names can only contain letters and numbers and cannot be longer than 30 characters
- The Comment field in the Scanner Request does not allow for the following characters: | -- ^ ~ \ & % and cannot be longer than 255 characters
