1: Review and Update Internal List
Before you start to use the MPM tool, review your facility's internal list of procedures that are reported to the WTIS and identify what needs to be added, deleted, and updated.
- Separate procedure maps are required for each site and category (Surgery or DI) that is reported to the WTIS.
Recommended Tools for Reviewing/Updating Internal List:
- Your facility may have an excel spreadsheet that is maintained outside of the MPM tool.
- Facilities have the ability to export facility procedure maps to excel directly from the MPM tool.
Recommended Surgery and DI Guidance Documents :
- DI WTIS Complex MRI/CT HL7 Specifications: provides a list of WTIS DI procedures codes in the Appendix
- Surgery Data Standardization Guide: outlines requirements for reporting surgery procedures - including oncology cases - to the WTIS
- WTIS CCI Procedure Dictionary: see which Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (CCI) codes are associated with WTIS Surgey codes to help them cross reference hospital procedure codes. **The dictionary does not include oncology (adult & paediatric) procedures. Details on how to map Oncology procedures can be found in Surgery Mapping Protocols**
