Testing for Complex (Surgery or DI)

To test for Complex (Surgery or DI):

  1. Ensure you have met the prerequisites for testing.
  2. Identify a set of test patients to use for testing:
    1. Confirm test patients exist in PCR Conformance environment and are registered in the WTIS MPM environment

    2. If they are not registered, register the patients in the WTIS

  3. Open waitlist entries for the procedures you want to test (activated, added, modified, deactivated, deleted) by sending HL7 SIU^S12 (open) messages containing the hospital procedure codes.
  4. Next, use the Manage Interface Message function in the WTIS MPM environment to search for the interface messages used for testing.
  5. Confirm results of testing were successful and address issues, use the table below for guidance.
Tip: To help with trouble shooting, ask your technical resources to keep a record of all HL7 messages submitted to WTIS MPM environment and save Outbound Message logs and ACK/NACK logs. See WTIS online help for more details on the Manage Interface Messages function.
Important: If you cannot find the interface messages used for testing, contact Ontario Health. This may be an indication that the messages were not sent and/or received.

Test Results for Complex (Surgery or DI)

If activating, adding or modifying mappings … If deactivating or deleting mappings …

Check that the Open interface messages (HL7 SIU^S12)  were successful:

The Interface Message Status should be “success”

The Waitlist Entries are opened, they should have a status of “Open”

If you see error message, 42003 “Unknown Procedure Code”: You may have incorrectly specified the procedure code in the HL7 message or the procedure has been mapped incorrectly.  Check the HL7 message or the procedure map.

The Open interface message should generate the error message of “Unknown Procedure Code”.  This is the expected result if you are deactivating or deleting procedures.

If the interface message resulted in 10000 error code series, this means the WTIS has failed to validate and/or register the test patient information.  To resolve the issue, register your patient in the WTIS MPM environment and repeat testing steps.

If you cannot resolve the issue, contact Ontario Health.
