Hospital Operational Support Resources
- Hospital operational support resources must be established to support eCTAS, see descriptions below.
eCTAS Coordinators
- Must work closely with hospital operational support resources.
- Should know who these resources are, how to contact them, and what the scope of their responsibilities are.
- Will need to regularly engage and coordinate with these resources to delegate operational support responsibilities and resolve issues that may arise. For example, a Triage Nurse may report a technical issue with eCTAS to your hospital Help Desk or Technical Lead. eCTAS Coordinators should have processes in place that allow them to effectively coordinate with these operational support resources, stay informed of the issue and escalate it to ATC as required.
eCTAS Clinical Lead
- Provides quality and accurate clinical information for your facility
- Addresses clinical questions specific to the use of eCTAS
- Champions the clinical adoption of eCTAS as a decision support tool that standardizes the provincial application of CTAS guidelines
- Supports the dissemination of clinical updates to eCTAS
- Supports the flow of clinical information related to eCTAS
- Ensures there is always a knowledgeable resource available within your facility to support and train new users
eCTAS Technical Lead
- Coordinates downtime resolution and recovery activities
- Provides expertise and support to assist in troubleshooting technical issues
- Supports the implementation of technical changes to eCTAS

eCTAS Registration Authority (RA)
Legally Responsible Person (LRP)
- The facility resource that is responsible for designating your hospital's ONE® ID LRA
- May be the same person as your facility's eCTAS RA.
- Usually a CEO, CIO, etc...
eCTAS Facility Role Administrator (FRA)
ONE® ID Local Registration Authority (LRA)
- Responsible for managing ONE® ID accounts for facility staff using the ONE® ID Access and Management system. The ONE® ID LRA may be the same person as the eCTAS Facility Roles Administrator.
Hospital Help Desk
Your Hospital Help Desk along with the eCTAS Coordinator and Technical Lead is responsible for the dissemination of service interruption notices from Ontario Health to appropriate stakeholders and end users at your hospital. Hospital Help Desk Resources should understand how eCTAS is integrated with other systems in their hospital and communicate any interface downtime to Ontario Health (HIS, HL7 etc).
To avoid service interruption, any changes to the network infrastructure should be communicated to Ontario Health as soon as possible. These may include changes to:
- IP Addresses
- Hardware/Software changes
- Firewalls
Changes to Support Roles
When your hospital implemented eCTAS, names and contact information for each of the above hospital operational support resources were provided to Ontario Health. eCTAS Coordinators are responsible for ensuring this information is kept current. Changes to support role information should be submitted via Facility Roles on the ATC Information Site. For detailed information on using Facility Roles, refer to the ATC Online Help.
