Chief CEDIS Complaint

The Chief CEDIS Complaint is a mandatory field in eCTAS Triage Assessment. To help nurses quickly locate relevant complaints, suggested CEDIS complaints are listed at the top of the Chief CEDIS Complaint drop down list. These suggested CEDIS complaints are powered by the CEDIS Complaint Smart Search feature of eCTAS, which matches complaint data entered on the Patient Presentation screen to the most relevant Chief CEDIS Complaints.

To select a Chief CEDIS Complaint:

  1. Click on the Chief CEDIS Complaint field or on the down arrow on the right of the field to display the Chief CEDIS Complaint list.
    1. A Smart Search icon will appear if CEDIS matches are found based on complaints entered on the Patient Presentation screen.

    2. CEDIS matches appear at the top in the Suggested CEDIS List.
    3. All other CEDIS complaints appear in the Full CEDIS List.
  2. Click on a complaint in the Suggested or Full CEDIS List, or begin typing a complaint into the field; CEDIS matches will appear at the top of the list as you type.

Selecting a CEDIS complaint triggers the lowest possible CTAS score to show for that complaint and also displays related modifiers in the Modifiers list. As more clinical information is added, eCTAS dynamically updates information, for example:
    1. Entering Vital Signs may trigger additional modifiers to appear in the Modifier's list.
    2. Newly added modifiers are highlighted in yellow to provide a visual alert to nurses
    3. Entering vital signs and selecting/deselecting modifiers may impact the eCTAS score

Note: To ensure you generate a clinically appropriate CTAS score, follow the recommended best practices.

Note: Some CEDIS-Specific complaints will trigger a pop-up of recommended assessment reminders for nurses.  A new panel will appear for those specific CEDIS complaints to facilitate nurse documentation.

Note: Some CEDIS-Specific complaints auto-select age-related and temperature modifiers for issues in newborns <= 7days or > 7 days of age, as well as infants < 3 months. Other CEDIS-Specific complaints auto-select hypertension modifiers for Pregnancy >20 wks Issues and Postpartum Issues; these are based on a range of SBP and DBP values which are different than those for the general adult population.
